Metal Magic Inspiration!

Good Morning!

I'm back today with my 2nd project for our theme this week of Metal Magic! Today I have a card to share with you where I have designed to the Design Paper myself using Stamps and Inks.

So without further ado, let's begin!

 To start of I have trimmed some Manilla Cardstock to fit onto a 6x6 card blank. I then stamped a cogs background stamp onto two seperate corners using an Emboss Ink pad and Clear Embossing Powder, then heat set. Once cooled I swiped some Distress Stains over the whole piece and blended the edges with Distress Ink Pads.

To add some more interest to the paper I stamped a Floral Stamp in Metallic Distress Paint and once again heat set.

I have made a sentiment the main focal point of this card and to do this I simply stamped my sentiment in Distress Ink and blended once again around the edges. Once happy I mounted both pieces onto some Silver Card. As usual I have embellished the card with a few of my favourite products and here is the result!

J&C Creations - Metal Magic Tag!

Good Morning!

This week it's all about Metal and what better way to start this off than by using some of the new Metallic Distress Paints! I simply swiped them over a tag like I usually do, sprayed liberally with water and then heat set. I used all 3 of the new colours!

To add to the metal look I then covered the tag with a variety of Distress Inks and sprayed a small amount of water this time onto the tag to create drip marks. I then stamped my main image using Archival Ink.

I finished the tag off by dying some ribbon with the Silver Distress Paint and a Stain which I then looped through the top. Embellishing also with my usual choice of Flowers, Flower Charm, Tissue Tape, Buttons, Dew Drops, Glitter and a Decorative Pin!

12 Tags of 2013 ... March!

Good Morning!

Blimey this year is going fast! I can't believe it's time for me to share my version of the MARCH Tag by Tim Holtz already! For those of you that are new to what this is it's called the 12 Tags of 2013 where Tim Holtz creates a tag each month for everyone to create their own version of! At the end of each month Tim chooses 12 people who shared their interpretation to win a prize! I even managed to be one of those 12 for the December version!

 Also don't worry if you don't have all the same products that he has used, your tag doesn't have to be exactly the same as it's all down to how you interpret it and give it your own twist!

Thrifty Thursday - The Adventures of Tin Tin!

Just a play on words today but we are using some old screws and odds and ends from around the house and good old extra thick tin foil from the supermarket.

Firstly I cut a Tim Holtz tag from tags and bookplate.



Then pinflair glued some odds and ends from around the home to the tag, such as screws a piece of wire a rectangle of thick card chipboard coggs, washers anything you can raid your partners shed for!

Once dry I got a piece of thick tin foil and with Stazon black stamped some background stamps onto the foil.  I then squirted glossy accents onto the tag and pressed the foil into and around the items glued onto it.

I folded the foil around the back of the tag also.

I then got some different surfaces such as bottle tops with ridges down the side, tin bottle tops, an embossing tool and etched into the foil and around the shapes.  I then got some black acrylic paint, a brush and a baby wipe and started to paint over the foil.  I then wiped the paint off in places so that it went into the crevices. I then let it dry.

I then die cut the spellbinder snowflake pendant in blue backing card and glued this onto the front.  I got a metal border tag and stamped 'dreams' from the Penny Black Transparent 'gratitude' set onto the small tag.

Very steam punk christmasy!

In the Bleak Mid Winter-Advanced

Hi Everyone

My project today is using craft metal.  I love this product and with a few embossing tools you can create some stunning patterns on the surface.  If you haven't got any craft metal very thick foil can act as a good substitute but it must be thick.

Items needed:
Penny Black Antique Santa
Distress ink in vintage photo
Spellbinder fancy tags
Pinflair Glue
Stazon Ink in Black
Glossy Accents/Filler paste
Carolling Penguins Penny Black Stamp
Craft metal
Backing paper
Ribbon
Gold mirri card
Brown Mulberry paper
Brown cardstock run through a brick embossing folder
Embellishments

1. Get the craft metal and stamp the Santa in black.  Take a thin embossing tool and trace around the outside of the Santa.  Turn this over and on the back with a thick embossing tool (and a mouse mat/pricking mat underneath) gently push the metal out inside the outline. 

Another good tool to have is a metal texturing tool which looks like a soft pointed rolling pin and is rubbery.

You can add patterns and dots with embossing tools into the metal - revers side so it pushes out. Cut the stamped image out.

Fill the back of the metal where there are indentations with either glossy accents or filler paste.  Leave to dry.

2. Get a piece of cardstock and run through a brick embossing folder.  Tear the lower side and ink the edges.  Stick the Santa to this.

3. Die cut 2 tags one I have used in mirri card the other in a decorative background glitter card.

4.  Glue an embellishment to one of the tags.  The other, stamp in Stazon, the sentiment from the caroling penguins set. 

  

5. Get a piece of mulberry paper and with a paint brush wet along the side and then tear the paper, making it feather.

6. Attach a piece of ribbon to the mulberry paper.

7. Glue everything down with Pinflair.
