Feeling Pink!

Good Morning!
Following the Pink theme on Monday where I shared a tag with you all I am back today with a card.
I have made a simple card with Distress Inks and Stains to create the background, and here is how!

After trimming some white card stock down to size I swiped some Stains over a craft sheet which I then swiped the card through and heat set. Inking around the edges with Distress Ink to finish.

Using a white ink pad I stamped a post mark stamp in the top left and bottom right corners. Following this I stamped my main image in the centre using black Archival Ink and added a strip of Masking Tape across the bottom. Once everything dried I added some ribbon, stuck the card onto my card blank and then embellished!

INGREDIENTS -
Tim Holtz Stamp
DoCrafts Postmark Stamp
Masking Tape (Available from J&C Creations)
Tim Holtz Word Sticker
Flowers, Seam Binding Ribbon, Flower Charm, Dew Drops & Glitter
Ranger Glossy Accents, PVA Glue & Liquid Pearls - Onyx Pearl

INKS USED -
Stampin' Up White Ink Pad
Archival Ink - Jet Black
Distress Ink - Festive Berries

The three Musketeers!

Hi Everyone
Sue Here

This week is home decor at J & C Creations and again I love Scrap Canvas.  These look fantastic on a wall in your home and they are soooooooo easy - just take a page what you would do in a scrapbook and transport it to a canvas to put on your wall.  Your colours for the canvas could match the colour scheme in your room, or just go with the colours within the picture(s) you choose

Forever Best Friends
Materials used:
·         12 ins x 12 ins white canvas.
·         Offcuts of different types of material including silk, grosgrain, cotton, canvas, polyester and hessian.  All the material was either white or ‘brown’ in colour when purchased.  This is really good for your scraps or buying from shops which have a remnant bucket.
·         Grungeboard skull and crossbones, hinges and flourish pre-cut dies.
·         Brass brads.
·         Upper Case rubber stamps.
·         White vellum with computer words ‘best friends’ printed on it.
·         Velvet, silky, stripy and spotty ribbon.
·         Staples.
·         Brass buckle.
·         Pocket watch embellishment.
·        Photo of your choice.
·         Distress inks in Black Soot, Stormy Sky, Broken China, Antique Linen and Walnut Stain.
·         Versafine black ink pad.
·         WOW embossing powder in Clear Gloss
·         Acrylic Paint in Gold.
·         Ranger Glossy Accents.
·         Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Glue.
·         Cosmic Shimmer Mists in Midnight Blue, Peacock Green, Meadow Lush, Golden Mint, Aqua Lagoon, Ocean Sunlight and Silver.  You could use Distress Stains instead
·         Blue card for the matt/layer behind photo.
·         PVA glue.
·         ‘Ants’ rub-ons.

1.       Take each piece of material and spray with different Cosmic Shimmer mists. Use different techniques such as spray one colour then let it dry, spraying another over the top, or spraying a colour then spraying another straight away whilst wet and creating another colour by allowing them to mix.  Allow all the material to dry out overnight.
2.       Take your distress inks and canvas and apply the ‘direct to paper’ technique.  (apply ink straight from the pad to the canvas). Put it in different places, use different colours of blue and green, and leave parts white.  Take a brush and water and dilute in places, so it is not too harsh on the canvas.  Either leave to dry or use a heat gun taking care not to burn the canvas.
3.       Take some PVA glue and dilute 25/75 water-glue.  Use this to adhere the material to the canvas, scrunching it up in places.  The background canvas colours will come through in some areas.  This only adds to the effect.  Take the material around the rear of the canvas and secure with staples.  The glue will dry clear.  Leave this overnight.  Whilst the canvas is drying you can do the following:
4.       Matt your photograph with cardstock and place a brad in each corner.
5.       Paint the skull and crossbones and hinges with gold acrylic paint, dry off with a heat gun and edge these with Black Soot distress ink.
6.       Put the brads through the hinges.
7.       Tear around the vellum printed ‘Best Friends’ and ink the edges with cut and dry foam and blue distress ink.
8.       Spray the Grungeboard flourish with blue Cosmic Shimmer Spray and dry with a heat gun.
9.       Stamp the alphabet letters ‘FOREVER’ in Versafine onto Grungeboard and use clear embossing powder over the top to raise the outline.  Cut these letters out.  With cut and dry foam colour in the letters with Antique Linen and Walnut Stain Distress Inks.  Using Glossy Accents to cover the letters and leave to dry overnight.
10.   Before affixing anything to the material play about with ribbons, embellishments, and the photograph, to place them in the area on the canvas you want them.  Either make a sketch of where everything is placed or take a photo, so you can recall where to place everything when sticking it down.
11.   I placed the spotty ribbon then the grosgrain, then the silk ribbon with a buckle and velvet ribbon down first, followed by the flourish then the photograph.  The skull and crossbones, pocket watch embellishment, and ‘best friends’ came next with the ‘best friends’ vellum being secured with folded ribbon and staples.  Next came the hinges, followed by the word ‘Forever.’  Lastly I placed ant rub-ons to the bottom of the canvas. All of it was glued down with Cosmic Shimmer glue apart from the vellum as you would be able to see the glue through the transparency of the medium.

All the highlighted items in blue can be purchased from the J & C Website

Hope we are inspiring you to have a go at altering something this week.......Sue

Metal Magic Inspiration!

Good Morning!
I'm back today with my 2nd project for our theme this week of Metal Magic! Today I have a card to share with you where I have designed to the Design Paper myself using Stamps and Inks.
So without further ado, let's begin!

To start of I have trimmed some Manilla Cardstock to fit onto a 6x6 card blank. I then stamped a cogs background stamp onto two seperate corners using an Emboss Ink pad and Clear Embossing Powder, then heat set. Once cooled I swiped some Distress Stains over the whole piece and blended the edges with Distress Ink Pads.

To add some more interest to the paper I stamped a Floral Stamp in Metallic Distress Paint and once again heat set.

I have made a sentiment the main focal point of this card and to do this I simply stamped my sentiment in Distress Ink and blended once again around the edges. Once happy I mounted both pieces onto some Silver Card. As usual I have embellished the card with a few of my favourite products and here is the result!

INGREDIENTS -
Tim Holtz Stamp
DoCrafts Cogs Background Stamp
Heartfelt Creations 'Tattered Blossoms' Stamp Set
Docrafts Clock Embellishment
Cheesecloth, Seam Binding Ribbon & Dew Drops
Ranger Glossy Accents, PVA & Clear Embossing Powder

INKS USED -
Emboss Ink Pad
Distress Paint - Brushed Pewter
Distress Stain - Brushed Pewter & Antiqued Bronze
Distress Ink - Vintage Photo & Walnut Stain

12 Tags of 2013 ... April!

Good Morning!
For those of you that are new to what this is it's called the 12 Tags of 2013 and this is where Tim Holtz creates a tag each month for other Crafters to create their own version of! At the end of each month Tim chooses 12 people who shared their interpretation to win a prize. Oh and it doesn't have to be identical, you can give it your own twist!

You can find a complete STEP BY STEP GUIDE to making this Tag over on his blog which you can find HERE or by clicking the photo above.

I really enjoyed making this months tag, what with the gorgeous Patina effect background created by using various Distress Paints and combining the Paints with Stains on Seam Binding Ribbon to give an equally nice effect!
I also got the chance to try something I never had before, Clearly for Art Modelling Film! This is a clear plastic type sheet that once heated becomes flexible for just enough time for you to shape and mould it how you want, creating great 3D shapes! I have added a Close-up further down in the post so you can see just how it looks.

Okay so here it is, my version of this month's tag!

Discover Yourself!

Good Morning!
Natalie here again today with a quick Tag for you all to try making yourselves! I have kept this tag simple with the sentiment as the main focus for this week's theme of Wise Words.

Start off by stamping your sentiment in the centre of a blank tag using your chosen Distress Ink. Sprinkle over some Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Set and let cool. By Embossing the sentiment it will resist any other inks that go over the surface of it!

For the next part swipe some stains onto a craft mat and spray liberally with water. Swipe the tag through the inks along with blotting the tag into the ink to create a mottled effect like above.
Once your happy ink around the edges!

If you look closely you will see that to finish off the tag before embellishing I have stamped a floral design in Tattered Rose Distress Ink.  Repeat this three or four times in various positions on the tag. Remember you can easily wipe away the excess ink that gets onto the sentiment by gently wiping with a damp cloth!

Once your happy feel free to embellish the tag however you like, I have simply added some Dew Drops, a Floral Charm and Seam Binding Ribbon that has been dyed with Distress Stains!

INGREDIENTS -
Tim Holtz 'Urban Tapestry' Stamp Set
Seam Binding Ribbon, Floral Charm & Dew Drops
Ranger Glossy Accents & Liquid Pearls - Ruby Red
Heat It Tool

INKS USED -
Distress Stains - Shabby Shutters, Fired Brick, Tarnished Brass, Peeled Paint & Barn Door
Distress Ink - Vintage Photo, Tattered Rose & Fired Brick

Windows and Wise Words

Hi Everyone
Sue Here

LOGIC WILL GET YOU FROM A TO Z IMAGINATION WILL GET YOU EVERY WHERE!
This week is 'Wise Words' and I've started off by using a Ranger Tag and art phrases from Creative Expressions.

I firstly used Distress Stains in peeled paint and evergreen bough and blobbed this all over the tag.  I then used  an embossing folder to make the indentations on the tag.  I then used black soot distress ink around the edge of the tag and to highlight the embossed area.

I then cut out the marianne craftables CR1204 oval frame and flowers cutting these out in different brown cardstock.

The background paper has been stamped on with the penny black brick wall and the flower made with the spellbinder bitsy flowers.  I then placed these behind an acetate bubble shaker pouches.  The leaves are a marianne die, and the die at the top is from the spellbinder Moroccan accents.  The words were stamped with versamark and I used WOW ebony embossing powder over the top and heat set.  The pearl brads are from J & C Creations.

Take care ....Sue
