Modern
Valentine's seem to have begun in the late 1700's when printers had
started to produce cards containing romantic verse. Once postal rates
became more affordable it became possible to send them anonymously and
now it's grown into quite a big commercial event. A hand crafted card
takes some beating though!

The card is based on a 5 1/2" white square. The main image is
Hedgehog Kisses stamped on white card with Archival Coffee and coloured
in with watercolour pencils. It is cut out with a heart shaped die, I
have coloured the edges with Distress Ink Spun Sugar before removing the
die so that I get a nice neat white border. The small hedgehog is from
Hugs stamped on white card and coloured before cutting out by hand and
mounting on foam.
The
pink pearl layer has been embossed using a polkadot embossing folder, it
is then matted on to a green pearl layer. The balloons have been
stamped on green pearl and cut out so that they can be raised on foam
pads above the image, they also have a small white 'shine' drawn on them
with a Distress Marker-Picket Fence. The little hedgehog has a green
pearl heart too.
This stamp is perfect for Valentine's Day as well as Anniversaries and Weddings, that's a value for money stamp!
