(Lame) Duck Day – 6th February

When I saw this date on the calendar, I immediately thought of ducks of the cute and cuddly variety. However on doing some research I discovered it was nothing of the sort, lol!
The day actually commemorates the 1933 ratification of the 20th Amendment about presidential succession in the USA. After each election there is a period of out with the old, in with the new, where the old president does his best to seem useful while the new one gets all the attention.
Now I’m afraid my crafty mind does not stretch to politics and surprisingly I could not think of anything to base my card on. So, I’m afraid I have cheated and made a card with a duck of the aforementioned cute and cuddly variety!

Items available from J & C Creations shop
Image – Penny Black ‘Duckling’ coloured with Promarkers
Yellow card – Coredinations
Ribbon, pearls, leaf charms & flowers
Dies used: Spellbinders ‘Decorative Labels 8’
Glue, 3d tape, Memento 'Black Tuxedo' ink pad

I glued a square of patterned paper to a larger square of yellow card. Tip - like most crafters I hate waste, so I carefully cut out the middle of my yellow card (leaving enough of a border at the edge to stick my paper to) nobody is any the wiser and I have a good sized piece of card for another day! Next I used some chalks on the edges of the doily and glued this down, adding a strip of ribbon across the middle which I secured on the reverse with tape, then I glued everything onto my card blank. After stamping and colouring my image I glued it to a die cut from the 'Decorative Labels 8' set and attached it at an angle to the card with 3d tape. I added some embellishments and finished off with two duck buttons and a bow.

Take Care...Nat B
