Read a Road Map Day - April 5th

April 5th is Read a Road Map Day, with most cars having satellite navigation fitted this is becoming a dieing art. No more 'turn left......no the other left' to be heard in the car now!

If you don't use your map book anymore or it's out of date then don't throw it away, use it to make some cards. I have taken a small part of the map and torn the top edge, then stuck it on to a piece of  white card and trimmed the edges. The saying is stamped and embossed in silver to match one of the cars. I have used a shaving brush to add a little blue ink to the white area and have also blended the edges with the same blue. Then stuck that layer on to a dark blue card.

The cars are a Marianne Creatable die, one cut in gloss black and the other in satin silver. The black car is stuck flush on to the card and the silver car is mounted on foam pads.

The envelope has also been made using the map book, if you don't have a template open out an old one and draw around it. If you use a white sticky label for the address try putting it on the back which will help seal it and not spoil the the front cover. If you can try to use the page that shows where your recipient lives I'm sure they will appreciate the attention to detail and it makes it even more personal.
