Founded in 1976 by Larry Wilde the intent of the ‘Humorous Day’
is to focus on how  the "therapeutic value of laughter can improve
health, boost morale, increase communication skills and enrich the
quality of one's life." I believe that laughter is very therapeutic and
have chosen to use this Penny Black stamp as it always makes me want to
laugh when I look at it!
Available from J & C Creations shop
To make:
Take
a piece of white card 5” x 6”. Find the middle of the side measuring 6”
and fold in the corners to make a triangle at the top. Cut a panel of
plain card for the front and trim the corners to match the grade of your
bookmark. Do the same with a smaller panel of patterned paper and glue
together. Cut a rectangle of card and patterned paper for the reverse
side and then cut panels for the top and trim in the same way as the
front, glue in place. Cut a rectangle of card and patterned paper for
the front and glue slightly off centre. Cut 4 lengths of matching card
using a daisy punch and glue these to the reverse of your stamped and
coloured image. Glue a rectangle of matching card to the reverse of the
image to hide the join marks. Add to the front of your bookmark using 3d
foam and add pearls to 3 corners and a flower to the fourth. The last
panel on the back helps to lift the edge of the bookmark when placing it
in your book and so can be any shape and design. As this project is for
Humorous Day I have opted for some jokes printed from the pc and glued
to a rectangle of card. Before gluing I trimmed off 2 corners and added
pearls. Secure to the top flap of your bookmark ONLY with 3d foam.
