National Pig Day is an event held annually on the 1st March in the United States to celebrate the pig. The holiday celebration was started in 1972 by sisters Ellen Stanley, a teacher in Lubbock, Texas, and Mary Lynne Rave of Beaufort, North Carolina. According
to Rave the purpose of National Pig Day is "to accord the pig its
rightful, though generally unrecognized, place as one of man's most
intellectual and domesticated animals.” The holiday is most often
celebrated in the Midwest.
National Pig Day includes events at zoos, schools, nursing homes, and sporting events around the United States. It is also recognized at "pig parties" where pink pig punch and pork delicacies are served, and pink ribbon pigtails are tied around trees in the pigs' honour.
I’m not quite sure how eating pork delicacies is a tribute to pigs, lol! As this card was made for the J & C Creations Blog, I have used one of the many Penny Black stamps which are available on their website.

To Make:
Take
a 6” x 6” card blank and glue a square of pink card to the front and
then glue a smaller square of patterned paper on top. Run a piece of
white card through a cutting machine using the embossing folder and trim
to make a panel. Glue this onto pink card so that a small border shows
down either side and glue onto the card front.
Stamp, colour and cut out the three pigs and cut three fences using the Marianne die on pink card. At this point I added glitter to the images and left them to dry. Glue the fences onto the card, adding the pigs using silicone glue to give them dimension. Add a sentiment and decorate some of the embossing with more glitter and add pearls for the flower middles.
