Point to Poinsettia

Hi Everyone

Sue here

Well I was digging in my 'long forgotten' stash when I came across some funky foam in different colours.  As you know I have used some in the Thrifty Thursday post but as we are still into distress stains, I thought I would make a christmas tag with it.

I firstly chose the spellbinder poinsettia and cut this out in a light purple  funky foam and the leaves in green funky foam.  I put black soot distress ink through the open veins before taking the die out of the shape.

I then inked it up in vintage photo distress stain giving it 2 coats and let it air dry.  This changed the colour of the foam.  I did this because if I had heated it up, the veins which are quite prominent would have disappeared with the heat.

I then put blobs of distress stain of vintage photo and peeled paint onto a tag then sprayed with water to let it merge into one another.  I then went around the edges with orange marmalade distress ink.

I then stamped 'with love' from the Penny Black Gratitude Stamp set in versamark and heat set with WOW white embossing powder.  As an embelishment I added a wide green ribbon and glued a funky foam poinsettia to the front of it and added red gems.  I added a further poinsettia to the botton of the tag.

Happy crafting this week with distress stains.

Sue
