Friday Master Class–Distress Stains

Happy Friday and welcome once again to Friday Master Class, this week I am concentrating on different ways of using your Distress Stains. There were going to be 2 projects today, but unfortunately one of them has yet to be completed which is the reason I am late posting this weeks Master Class.  I thought I would get ahead of myself and prepared my base for colouring by painting a Chipboard Label with Picket Fence Distress Crackle Paint and leave it over night to dry, good idea you may think but not quite so good when you have an inquisitive cat who wanders around your craft room late at night I woke up to find footprint all over it, so I had to start again and the paint is still not dry.  Anyway I have at least one project for you, I hope you like it.

To start making the above card you will need
Distress Stains – Victorian Velvet, Stormy Sky, Walnut Stain
Rose Ribbon
Seam Binding
Wow Embossing Powder – Gold Sparkle
Distress Inks: Stormy Sky and Victorian Velvet
Tag
White card
Metal Corner Embellishment
Heat Mat

First we will prepare the Ribbon Roses, wet the roses with a Mini Mister, swipe your Stormy Sky Distress Stain over your Heat mat, wipe your rose ribbon through the Stain until you get the depth of colour you require.

Dry with Heat Gun, for matching ribbon repeat the process as above but do not wet the ribbon before hand, when you have the depth of colour you require screw the ribbon into a ball and squeeze this should give you a distress look on your ribbon, dry with heat gun keeping the ribbon screwed up.  Repeat with Roses and Ribbon using Victorian Velvet Distress Stain.

Now to prepare the label: Stamp the Love Sentiment from the Heartfelt Creations Feather Grass Flourish with Black Stazon then randomly stamp a couple of flourishes from the same set. Dampen the stamped label lightly and swipe over Victorian Velvet  Distress Stain, distress around the edge of the tag with Stormy Sky Distress Ink.

Finally stamp out a couple more flourishes with Emboss Clear Ink Pad sprinkle with WOW Gold Sparkle Embossing Powder and heat set, add two of your pre-coloured roses  to the bottom corner of the tag and tie the Blue and Pink Ribbon to the top of the Tag.

Now this is my favourite technique especially if I am in a bad mood.  On a sheet of plain white card, holding your Distress Stain Bottles completely upright stamp them, randomly, hard down on the paper this will leave this fabulous splatter effect, you can vary the size of your splatters by increasing or decreasing the pressure you use to stamp down.

Cut your splattered backing paper into a 5.1/2” sq and mount onto a matching backing card, Wrap your pre-coloured roses around the middle and  Mount your tag onto the card at an angle with Sticky pads.  I finished with my card off with a metal corner which has been enamelled with Aged Rose Embossing Powder.

Thats it hope you like it and don’t forget just play with your Distress Stains there are so many ways you can use them.
Happy Crafting
